Construction Management New York

Currently, those working in construction management in New York are not required to be licensed, but the idea is growing in the Empire State since more government agencies and some private companies often request, and sometimes require, when requesting building proposals from construction companies.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
     • Construction managers must be available—often 24 hours a day—to deal with delays, bad weather, or emergencies at the           jobsite.
     • Employers prefer jobseekers who combine construction industry work experience with a bachelor’s degree in          construction science, construction management, or civil engineering.
     • Although certification is not required, there is a growing movement toward certification of construction managers.
     • Excellent job opportunities are expected.

Those in construction management in New York must plan, direct, and coordinate various construction projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial structures, roads, bridges, wastewater treatment plants, and schools and hospitals. Construction management professionals may be involved in entire projects or only a part of one. They work they are involved in includes scheduling and coordinating every design and construction process. This includes selecting, hiring, and overseeing subcontractors.
